The update for Monday, August 1, teases that Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) will be stuck in a surprise showdown while Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) confesses to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). Here’s what Y&R fans can expect on Monday’s hot episode.
At Crimson Lights, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) will express concern for Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) during a conversation with Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).
Sharon will urge Faith to be positive when Tessa arrives, so Faith will indeed stay upbeat as she passes along a care package and balloons.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will be there to speak for Tessa since she’ll be on complete vocal rest following her surgery.
After Mariah insists the procedure went well, she’ll joke about Tessa not being able to argue and stay optimistic about Tessa’s recovery path.
Later, Mariah will be alone when Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) finds her at the coffeehouse.
After asking for the latest Tessa news, Kyle will fill Mariah in on Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death and how helpful Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) was with Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez).
Kyle will mention how he told Harrison that Diane was his grandmother and will think his mom’s doing her best to make up for the past.
Although Diane can’t undo her mistakes, comforting Harrison will definitely score her some points.
The problem is Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) won’t think Diane genuinely cares about Harrison at all – and she’ll say so during a run-in with Diane in the park.
That’s where Diane will talk about consoling Harrison over Ashland’s death.
Summer will try to keep the peace, but Phyllis will rant about Diane using Harrison’s heartbreak to worm her way back into the family.
Diane will protest that she’s part of that family, but Phyllis will feel like Diane gave up her spot when she faked her death and let Kyle suffer.
Although Diane will eventually get agitated and fire back, Phyllis will do most of the shouting.
It’ll once again make Phyllis look bad when Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) comes over and shuts his ex down.
Jack will be furious since Harrison will be within earshot on the swings.
It’ll leave Jack worried that Harrison might’ve overheard Phyllis, but Summer won’t think so and will try to help her mom out.
After Diane heads over to Harrison, Phyllis will send Summer off after them. That’ll give Jack and Phyllis a chance to have another heated confrontation.
Jack will admit he wishes they could recapture the magic between them, but incidents like this just keep happening.
Phyllis will insist she tried to keep the truce, but she’ll also imply that Jack should control Diane and stop all the button-pushing.
Since Diane seems to get a pass for everything, it’ll frustrate Phyllis.
It’ll feel like Jack doesn’t have any tolerance for Phyllis’ mistakes – and she won’t get why stopping this Diane feud is so important to him.
Jack will make it clear that protecting Harrison, Kyle and Summer is his priority.
Although Jack will gush over Phyllis’ amazing qualities and admit his love for her, he won’t be willing to put “Skyle” and his grandson in the crossfire.
After Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) returns home early from Hawaii, she’ll whisk Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) home for some lovemaking.
There’ll be talk about Elena’s contract with Newman and how Amanda may work on it since Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) couldn’t get her out of it before leaving town.
Since Imani will be taking her turn with Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey), Amanda and Devon will be back in Genoa City.
Although Naya will be settled in the Virginia center, part of Amanda will worry she should’ve stayed there to help.
Another part of Amanda will want to offer space since she’s new to the family.
Amanda will also worry that Naya might need her dad right now. It’ll make Amanda fear Naya resents her since she sent Sutton Ames (Jack Landron) to prison.
Devon will do his best to ease Amanda’s mind and will think they can work out all the details if she wants to spend more time in Virginia.
Once Devon heads to the office, he’ll discover that Nate goofed by booking a performer for a Chicago festival.
Devon booked the same guy for a festival in Los Angeles that weekend, so he’ll feel like this is a poor look for the company.
Nate will think they can easily fix this, but Devon will still fret over his cousin’s mistakes and suggest he might need a mentor.
After Nate blows up about not needing supervision, Amanda will arrive and wonder if everything’s OK.
Once Nate decides he’ll check in with Imani about Elena’s contract, he’ll text her.
Imani will wonder if Nate has time to talk in person instead, so they’ll be glad to hear each other’s voices over the phone.
While Nate’s smiling over Imani, Elena will be in their bedroom back at the penthouse.
We’ll see Elena put out a couple souvenirs she brought back for Nate – clearly unaware of how close he’s been getting to Imani lately!
